Credits explained
Motivd vs Lovable credits are different units. Sticker plan prices on Motivd are often lower; raw credit integers look bigger because our Build mode meters real model cost on a finer retail unit.

If you line up “credits used per message” as integers, Motivd can look pricey. That comparison mixes two different denominators.
Lovable’s Build mode typically burns a fractional credit per turn. Motivd’s Build mode converts provider cost through a transparent markup into a ~$0.004 retail credit unit — so Haiku-class and Sonnet-class turns show as ~7–8 or ~29 credits. Compare plan list price and dollars per meaningful edit, not the raw number on the meter.

Same word — “credit” — two different meters. Here’s how each system actually charges for Plan vs Build.
Formula source: Motivd builder credit math (MOTIVD_BUILDER_CREDIT_MARKUP · MOTIVD_BUILDER_USD_PER_CREDIT) and docs/PRICING.md.
Before debating credit integers, look at monthly list price for similar entry tiers. Motivd’s paid ladder starts lower than Lovable’s Pro/Business list prices commonly cited today.
| Tier | Motivd | Lovable |
|---|---|---|
| Entry paid plan | Builder ≈ $19/mo | Pro ≈ $25/mo (100 credits) |
| Next paid plan | Studio ≈ $39/mo | Business ≈ $50/mo (100 credits) |
| What the integers mean | Finer unit + model-cost transparency | Coarser per-action credit burn in Build |
At Pro-like tiers, both ecosystems land near ~$0.30 per credit for on-demand packs. Top-up unit price is rarely the reason Motivd “feels” expensive — the perception gap is almost always Build mode integers vs Lovable’s fractional Build burn.
Ask what a real change costs end-to-end — prompt, regenerate, ship — not whether one UI shows “2” and another shows “29.”
Plan is cheap and similar (≈1 credit). Build is where meters diverge because Motivd exposes model cost through a published credit unit markup.
Builder ~$19 and Studio ~$39 often undercut Lovable Pro $25 / Business $50 list. Then decide if the finer Motivd unit matches how you want usage explained.
A higher Motivd Build number usually means a finer denominator and clearer model cost — not automatically a higher bill for the same work.

Because the units differ. Lovable Build mode often uses about 0.5–2 credits per action. Motivd Build converts model cost with a 2.5× markup into a ~$0.004 retail credit unit, so the same kind of turn can show ~7–8 (Haiku-class) or ~29 (Sonnet-class) credits. Compare plan sticker prices and dollars per edit — Motivd Builder (~$19) and Studio (~$39) are often cheaper list price than Lovable Pro (~$25) and Business (~$50).
Per Lovable’s documentation, Plan mode costs about 1 credit per message, while Build mode typically costs roughly 0.5–2 credits depending on complexity.
Motivd Build credits = (costUsd × 2.5) / 0.004. The 2.5× multiplier is the published markup on provider cost; 0.004 USD is the default retail credit unit. Plan mode stays simple at 1 credit per message.
Often yes on sticker: Motivd Builder is about $19/mo and Studio about $39/mo, versus Lovable Pro about $25 and Business about $50 for 100 credits. Higher per-turn Motivd integers reflect a finer metering unit, not a claim that every Lovable credit maps 1:1 to a Motivd credit.
At Pro-like tiers, both ecosystems are commonly near ~$0.30 per credit for packs. Top-ups are usually not what creates the “Motivd looks expensive” impression — Build unit design is.
